Supporting LGBTQIA+ Communities on Campus

Jennifer Eggerton

June is Pride Month, and we are proud to support the LGBTQIA+ communities in university settings. We understand that between your class schedule, events, and life in general, receiving services at your student health center may not be convenient or of the quality that you desire. Here are five ways that Kiira provides the excellence in care that you deserve.

1. Kiira LGBTQIA+ Allies

Being in a university setting not only means being on your own for the first time, but this is also when most LGBTQ+ people come out to friends and family. At Kiira, we support you during this time by being a trusted ally. To us, this means more than taking care of your health and well-being. We stand with you to celebrate successes and overcome challenges. We work to stay informed about the issues our LGBTQIA+ patients face so that we can adapt our approach and services. Kiira has a full team of medical doctors, nurse practitioners, women’s health specialists, therapists, counselors, and psychiatrists who are ready to support you in a safe and discrete setting.

2. Learning, Listening, and Educating

We truly enjoy and value the time we spend with people within the LGBTQIA+ communities, both on a personal and professional level. To us, each patient is a unique human being from whom we can learn and better educate ourselves. When you feel comfortable enough to share your personal story, we listen because we can learn so much about you, your incredible journey, and ourselves.

3. Taking Action

Kiira diligently works to advance policies and practices that support the LGBTQIA+ communities on the campus that we are present. When you experience hardships, we are here to advocate for you to the extent possible. We help you navigate the challenges and learn about your own personal power. On a more global level, we work with universities to ensure that the LGBTQ+ community has access to high-quality healthcare and mental health services that promote a sense of safety and well-being.

4. Unbiased, Personalized Care

Kiira was founded to overcome the challenges of accessing women, and women identifying individuals, healthcare in The challenges are even greater for the LGBTQIA+ community. We offer unbiased, personalized care so you feel at ease and confident with your providers.

5. Respect

Respect and a patient-centered approach is something that we integrate into every student’s health. For our LGBTQIA+ communities that we serve in university settings, we are a partner and ally in your own personal journey. We also respect your time and needs, so we are available 24/7, including nights and weekends.
